Official Update from AAU Minnesota

We hope this email finds you well.  AAU & Club Basketball stakeholders have been hard at work doing everything possible to get our youth back on the court.  The Governor's office has asked that each industry/business/sport send a reopening plan to them.

Today, we will be sending our 4-phase plan to re-open youth basketball to the Governor's committee.  As luck would have it, the Governor appointed Tarek Tomes, a former AAU basketball coach as the leader of his committee to reopen youth sports.  We have been in verbal contact with Mr. Tomes and our letter / plan will be sent to him today.

We are as excited & confident as we have been in weeks that we will be able to provide a basketball experience for the players in Minnesota this summer!

The office has been very clear that no decisions have been made thus far on basketball, and that as of the writing of this email, the lifting of the stay at home order DOES NOT allow for youth sports to restart.  We ask for your understanding and cooperation to NOT start formal or informal workouts or practices of any sort until the Governor's office issues guidance.  At that point, we will be in contact with you on what is permissible.  This could be a situation where one wrong move by one coach/club could cost the entire group significantly.

We will continue to update you via email as well as on www.aauevents.com with new information as it becomes available!

See you on the court soon!

3/28/2020 UPDATE

E1T1 Basketball Family

We hope you are all doing what is needed to stay healthy during this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Our governing basketball authorities in who's events we participate in have made available the following information. The AAU in Minnesota has suspended all operations/events through May 31, 2020. More information can be located HERE for the AAU. The Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) has announced that they will not resume tournaments until the weekend of June 6-7, 2020. More information from the MYAS can be found HERE.

There are no organized team events planned until further notice.

At this time, we anticipate a slightly shortened season, but be advised this could change. Please contact your TEAM PARENTS if you have any further questions, they will be the first to know when we are able to resume operations at a team level.

Please continue to follow heed of the guidelines and recommendations that are available from the CDC and the state agencies about COVID-19 in order to keep you and your family safe at this time. #stayhomemn  #SaferAtHome
